About

In 2017, after graduating with my BA in studio art, I craved growth that I felt could only be attained by pushing the boundaries of my world view through travel. In the fall of 2017, I reduced my possessions to a sixty-five-liter backpack and headed to the Virgin Islands to help a family recuperate their property in the aftermath of Hurricanes Irma and Maria.

Over the course of the nine years to follow, I parsed together work exchanges, volunteer opportunities, seasonal work, bare bones cross-country road trips and through-hikes to accrue a different kind of life experience. It was a self-imposed sabbatical of sorts, ripe with vulnerability, an openness to be challenged and a bit more hitchhiking than expected.

During these vagabond years, I challenged myself to continue to create on smaller, more mobile scales. Drawing, writing, crafting and mural making became essential outlets. My work prior to travel varied from large paintings to sculpture and installation, with a heavy focus on repurposing and evolving found material in confluence with meditative mark making.

After nearly a decade of being on the move, I’ve currently landed in Missoula, Montana and it’s time to start making again.

As I begin to plant small roots in this new community, I am excited to synthesize older ruminations with the invaluable experiences I’ve collected in the past nine years. Currently in the works is a poetry and drawing collection, titled Seven Years, derived from the more robust moments of travel and exploration. In conjunction with writing projects, I continue to push the physicality of painting with lightly sculpted works and references to the vibrant geology in Montana and the greater west. Contemporary works range from completely non-objective to lightly illustrative with references to explored environments, both external and internal.
